> Dear Colleagues,
>
> The Graduate Faculty of English at the University of Kansas is pleased to announce the Third Jayhawk English Sneak Peek Visit to be held at the Lawrence campus, scheduled for 15-16 October 2015. This special event will introduce a group of promising potential applicants from historically underrepresented groups (first-generation college attendees, African American, Latino/a, Native American, Asian-American, Northeastern, West Coast) to our department and campus a few weeks before graduate applications are due. We ask that you assist us by identifying students who may be interested in attending.
>
> We shall defray the following costs: airfare, overnight lodging, and a luncheon. We shall offer two mini-symposia: one describing our programs in literary study, composition and rhetoric, and creative writing, and another one providing useful tips about how to be an especially competitive applicant. Current graduate students will assist in our initiative by escorting the visitors on tours of the campus, the office of the Project on the History of Black Writing, and the city of Lawrence.
>
> Potential applicants should address a letter of interest, an unofficial transcript, and a short note of endorsement from a faculty advisor by Monday, June 1, 2015, to Dr. Giselle Anatol, Director of Graduate Studies, English Department, University of Kansas, 3001 Wescoe Hall, 1445 Jayhawk Blvd., Lawrence, KS 66045. Please e-mail questions to ganatol at ku.edu.
>
> We’re excited to introduce our department to students who might not have considered Kansas to be a viable site for graduate studies. For more information on our offerings, please visit our website: http://www.english.ku.edu/ and click on the “Graduate” link near the top of the page. We deeply appreciate your help.
