The Department of Theatre and Dance presents a FREE reading of
*Kindertransport *by Diane Samuels directed by sophomore Adam Brown, in
partial fulfillment of his work in Theatre 388, at 4 pm on THURSDAY, MARCH
26 in the Black Box Theatre in Brodie Hall. There are 72 seats in the
theatre, and the theatre opens at 3:45 pm, so arrive a bit early for the
best seats in the house.

In 1939 thousands of German children were placed onto trains to escape
Hitler’s grasp as a rescue operation called “Kindertransport”. We
watch nine year old German-Jewish Eva Schlesinger as a child and, about
forty years later, as an English adult with no connections to her past
life. Throughout the play Eva’s past and present become parallel and
collide: the scared young girl in a foreign country and the stoic older
woman who has tried to forget the Kindertransport. When Eva's own daughter
starts unraveling old documents and letters, the walls come crashing down
as her past comes back to haunt her.

Diane Samuels’ *Kindertransport* examines the complexity of emotions in
those who must lose everything they love for survival.

*Kindertransport* stars Paige Gordon, Taylor Stuart, Emily Bantelman,
Wendy-Marie Aylward, Erin Donovan, Michael Marano, and Nicholas Duran.
