On April 2, 2015, the Department of Theatre and Dance proudly presents the
first production by Geneseo's Irish-American Performance Ensemble. GENtraí
(pronounced "GEN-tray") comes from the Irish word *geantraí, *meaning
'joyful, lively music,' and *gentry*, the term for faeries in Irish
folklore.

GENtraí's upcoming series includes staged readings of contemporary Irish
playwright Martin McDonogh's *Leenane Trilogy* directed by seniors Liam
Enright, THE LONESOME WEST on April 2; Tyler Their, A SKULL IN CONNEMARA,
on April 9; and concludes with THE BEAUTY QUEEN OF LEENANE directed by
Connor McLoughlin on April 16. All readings are FREE.

Liam Enright directs THE LONESOME WEST by Martin McDonagh in partial
fulfillment of his work this semester for Theatre 388: Second Season Staged
Readings. The reading will be held at 4 pm on THURSDAY, April 2nd in the
Black Box Theatre in Brodie Hall. There are 72 seats in the theatre, and
the theatre opens at 3:45 pm, so arrive a bit early for the best seats in
the house.

THE LONESOME WEST is the first of three readings going up this semester
written by Martin McDonagh and set in the violent little western Irish
hamlet of Leenane. THE LONESOME WEST is the darkly comic tale of two
feuding brothers in Leenane, the conflicted priest trying to reconcile
them, and the brash, booze peddling girl who is in love with Father Welsh.

The RUNNING TIME is 70 minutes with a 10-minute intermission. The reading
will be followed by a talk back between the audience, the director, and the
actors: Dennis Caughlin, Lea Pandoliano, Kris Kielich and Brodie Guinan.
