Hi NBPC Family,

Are you ready to reach the mountaintop? On Martin Luther King Day -- *Monday,
January 16* -- tune in to WORLD Channel
<http://cts.vresp.com/c/?NBPC/9eb80dd7cf/04399e82c1/fd5d980d79> for the
return of AfroPoP: The Ultimate Cultural Exchange
<http://cts.vresp.com/c/?NBPC/9eb80dd7cf/04399e82c1/0071a50d22/v=kxrhX4dNbzg>,
hosted by *Nikki Beharie*! NBPC's award-winning documentary series launches
its ninth season next week with *An American Ascent*, a film about the
first African American expedition to tackle Denali (a.k.a. Mt. McKinley,
North America's highest peak).

"An American Ascent" highlights the complex relationship many African
Americans have with the outdoors. As the United States transitions into a
"minority majority" nation, a staggering number of people of color do not
identify with America's wild places. By embarking on the multi-week climb
of Denali (20,237 ft), nine Black climbers bridge this "adventure gap,"
challenging outdated notions of what adventure looks like.
