Department of History at Georgetown University invites applications for a
Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship for the Study of Slavery for the 2017-18
academic year. The deadline for applications is August 4, 2017.*

Candidates must be specialists in the history of American slavery and must
have received their PhD in a Humanities discipline within the past two
years. The Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow will be expected to participate in
ongoing research activities relating to Georgetown University’s Slavery,
Memory, and Reconciliation initiative <http://slavery.georgetown.edu/> (which
may include archival research in Georgetown and Jesuit archives and further
development of the digital capacity of the Georgetown Slavery Archive
<http://slaveryarchive.georgetown.edu/>), as well as pursue her or his own
independent research. The Fellow may have an opportunity to teach a class
in the Spring 2018 semester. The salary will be up to $60K with standard
benefits. Applications should include a cover letter, CV, and the names of
two referees, and should be sent to Prof. Adam Rothman at
ar44 at georgetown.edu  <ar44 at georgetown.edu>by August 4, 2017. Review of
applications will begin immediately.
