Geneseo Literary Forum:

“Writing Short Fiction: Stories for the Self?”

Joan Anim-Addo reads from her recently published short story, “A Screech in
the Dark,” to consider her own writing, the art of short fiction and some
of the dynamics not usually discussed by writers of the genre.

*Joan Anim-Addo* is Professor of Caribbean Literature and Culture at
Goldsmiths, University of London. Born in Grenada, she is Director of
Goldsmiths’ Centre for Caribbean and Diaspora Studies and Co-coordinator of
the M.A. in Black British Writing.  Her publications include the poetry
collections, *Janie Cricketing Lady* and *Haunted by History*; the
libretto, *Imoinda* *or She Who Will Lose Her Name* and the literary
history, *Touching the Body: History, Language and African-Caribbean
Women’s Writing*. “A Screech in the Dark” is published in *Short Fiction in
Theory and Practice*, Volume 6 Number 1.
