*STUDY ABROAD IN GHANA, WEST AFRICA*

mid-May to mid-June (Session I), 2019

Counts toward: SOCIOLOGY, INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS, GEOGRAPHY, URBAN
STUDIES, CONFLICT STUDIES & *AFRICANA/BLACK STUDIES*



>From the skyscrapers and slums of the capital, Accra, to the mud-hut
villages of the northern savanna, students in *SOCL 378: Global Development
in Ghana* and *GEOG 388: Urban Lives and Livelihoods in Ghana*will
experience the diverse territories and populations of this West African
country.

The classes will run concurrently and travel together around Ghana, with
students also earning one credit of INTD 250: International Service
Learning, through workdays at schools and other sites. Visits to
educational institutions, healthcare facilities, markets, farms, factories,
tourism sites, and community development projects will expose students to
challenges and opportunities facing developing countries in urban and rural
contexts.
