[Blackstudies-l] BLACK PRIDE WEEK: important dates to share with faculty and students

Hello everyone!

This year for Black History Month, the Office of LGBTQ Programs and
Services will be hosting the first *BLACK PRIDE WEEK *at SUNY Geneseo! This
week will be dedicated to celebrating and honoring Black, queer
individuals, our experiences, struggles and contributions. Listed below is
information regarding the events:

*Black & Queer as a Working Professional, panel*
*When:* Monday, February 24 at 6pm
*Where:* Bailey 203
This event will focus on the experiences of Black and queer working
professionals. Panelists will share lived experiences in the workplace as
they connect to their identities. Attendees will learn from professionals
in education, health, and media. Light refreshments will be provided.

*The Trans Sounds of Black Freedom with Michael Roberson*
*When*: Wednesday, February 26 at 6pm
*Where*: Doty Recital Hall
Known for his work as a public health practitioner, activist, artist, "Pose"
contributor, curator, and leader within the LGBTQ community, Michael
Roberson is joining us to speak about the house and ball community.

*Black & Queer: Understanding Our Culture, Contributions, and Struggles*
*When*: Thursday, February 27 at 3pm
*Where*: GOLD Leadership Center, CU 114
In this workshop, Coordinator of LGBTQ Programs and Services, Eunisha
Tucker, will be discussing the issues Black, LGBTQIA+ individuals face, and
the culture and contributions of this marginalized community. To finish
off, there will be a game of jeopardy that educates participants on Black,
LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies, past and current. Click here to register.

*Black Pride Week: In Conversation with Dominique Jackson/Elektra on Pose*
*When:* Saturday, February 22 from 11am-1pm
*Where:* Visual Studies Workshop - 31 Prince St
This will be a time to hear from Dominique about her life as a Black trans
woman, and her work as a model and actress. Black and Brown LGBTQIA+
students are strongly encouraged to attend. Click here for interest form.

*Trans Sister Circle with Dominique Jackson/Elektra on Pose*
*When:* Saturday, February 22 from 1-3pm
*Where:* WOC Art - 215 Tremont St, Door 3
In response to the increasing numbers of murders of Black and Latinx trans
women, this is a *CLOSED* group/talk with Black and Latinx trans women. Click
