Hello,

I'm happy to announce that Dr. Walter Cooper will give a talk this Friday
at 2:00 pm on his life as a civil rights activist and research scientist.
All students and staff are invited to attend.

Dr. Cooper worked for many years as a research chemist at Eastman Kodak. He
also held leadership roles with the NAACP, Urban League, and other
organizations. In addition to his work for racial justice and equity in
Rochester, he forged connections with Mali and championed disinvestment
from South Africa's system of apartheid.

Dr. Cooper has received many honors. SUNY Geneseo awarded him an honorary
Doctor of Humane Letters in 2005. He served as a Regent for the State of
New York. And Rochester City School number 10 is named in his honor (the
Dr. Walter Cooper Academy).

Please join us to hear more about his amazing life at a 2:00 pm talk. At
3:00 pm, Dr. Cooper will be available for conversation at an informal
mixer.

All the best,
--
Justin Behrend, Ph.D.
