Bonjour,

I am pleased to announce the opening of the
application season for the 2012-2013 Teaching Assistant Program in
France. This program, sponsored by the French Ministry of Education and
the Cultural Services of the French Embassy, offers young Americans the
opportunity to live and work in France for 7 months, teaching English to
French students of all ages. The initiative aims to strengthen
English-language instruction in French schools through the establishment
of a native speaker presence, while also providing Francophiles and
future teachers of French in the U.S. with teaching experience and
first-hand knowledge of French language and culture. Nearly 1,500
positions are available each year for U.S. citizens and permanent
residents in metropolitan France and in the overseas departments of
French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Martinique and La Réunion.

Please find
attached the flyer for the 2012-2013 program as well as an informational
brochure with more details about the program. We encourage you to post
these materials in your department and around campus, and we hope that
you will also speak with your students directly about this unique
opportunity. You may refer your students to our general program website
at: http://www.frenchculture.org/assistantshipprogram [1], or have them
send any questions they may have to
assistant.washington-amba at diplomatie.gouv.fr [2].

The application for
the 2012-2013 program is now available online at: https://www.tapif.org
[3]. The application deadline is January 15, 2012.

Thank you in
advance for your help in promoting our program to your students. We hope
to hear from many of them soon!

Bien cordialement,

CAROLYN COLLINS
