Dear Students of French,
A word concerning Fren 320 Workshop that
will be offered this spring on TR 5:30-6:45: this course is NOT limited
to Education certification candidates. It will be organized according to
cultural topics and will revolve around discussion of how those topics
can be effectively taught/explained in a classroom or other setting.
Various grammatical principles will be highlighted and reviewed
throughout the course, against the backdrop of culture. Students will
share ideas about how to communicate concepts and will have the
opportunity to develop related sample lessons and materials.
For those
of you who may have an interest in teaching, but who aren't necessarily
working toward NYS certification, it would be valuable to have this
experience both for possible future use and as evidence of formal study
of teaching methods on your transcript. For example, you may be planning
to apply to the French government's teaching assistantship program,
Teach for America, the Peace Corps, etc. Should you be heading toward
graduate school, this could enhance your chances of being awarded a
teaching assistantship to finance some of your studies.
Should you
have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Beverly Evans
