Hello Everyone,
One of the charges of the Environmental Impact and Sustainability Task

staff about issues related to sustainability.
In support of this goal, the Task Force is offering support to up to 8
faculty and staff members to attend the Finger Lakes Project Workshop at
Ithaca College May 26-27.
This year's workshop explores transformative learning in the context of
sustainability education. The workshop is aimed at college-level faculty,
staff, and students who are interested in sustainability education. The
workshop provides opportunities to meet and make connections with others
with similar interests.
The workshop will include lectures and activities on the following topics:
• Defining Sustainability
• Psychology of Sustainability
• Transformative Education
• International Perspectives on Sustainability Education
• Moving from Knowledge to Action
Attendees from the past two years from the departments of Anthropology,
Communication, English, Biology, Sociology, and the Schools of Education,
Business the Arts found the workshop challenging, informative and
enjoyable.
In order to receive Task Force support to attend the workshop, faculty or
staff members must:
1 – commit to attending both days of the workshop May 26 & 27
2 – participate in a mixer back on the Geneseo campus with Task Force
members at the beginning of the fall 2011 semester
3 – incorporate sustainability into some aspect of their teaching of one
course in the 2011-2012 school year by adding/adjusting an assignment,
reading, lecture or presentation to include a sustainability-related
topic, and share a short written report of that change with the Task Force
no later than May 2012.
The Task Force will cover expenses including: travel to/from Ithaca,
on-campus housing in dorms at Ithaca College for 2 nights, and
registration for the workshop (which includes all field trips, and all

What would the world be, once bereft
Of wet and wildness? Let them be left,
O let them be left, wildness and wet;
Long live the weeds and the wilderness yet.
