[Workflowtoolkit-l] Windows 7 and MODI

I think this is more of an issue of moving from MS Office 2007 to Office 2010 than Windows 7. Brian Miller from OSU mentioned that they used these instructions to have Office 2010 with the Document Imaging Tools of 2007.

However, according to my IT, the steps outlined in the document would not work for us. I seem to remember it having something to do with scanning using Document Imaging vs. simply saving the PDF as TIFF using Document Imaging (which is what I was hoping to achieve).

What we have done is simply batch converted TIFFs to PDFs when necessary using MyMorph, which is very easy (although not as convenient on a one-off basis as MS Document Image Writer).

Many sites are now on ILLiad 8.1, therefore they can receive/send PDFs. So, the need to convert to TIFF is gradually going away.

Article Exchange is nice in that you can use PDFs, but in my mind it negates some of the benefits of using Odyssey: auto-updating in ILLiad in lending, auto-updating on borrower's side, auto-delivery to end user if Trusted turned on, etc.) Plus e-mails are notorious for going missing...

Just my thoughts.

I was forced to upgrade to Windows 7 yesterday and I realize now that Microsoft Document Image Writer "printing" option is gone (and apparently incompatible with Win7). We used this to convert articles from PDF to TIF for sending via Odyssey. Has anyone found something similar or a decent work-around? Or is it time for me to seriously investigate Article Exchange and build it into my workflow?

Thanks,
