[Workflowtoolkit-l] OT-question about electronic reserves and copyright laws

Hi all,
Sorry to post on this list but sometimes ILL people do handle ereserves
too. I'm trying to find out how others view copyright laws for ereserves as
far as the material that can be put on. My interpretation of the copyright
law is that in order for any given material to be used on ereserves, the
ORIGINAL work has to be owned by either the faculty member or the library.
Given that, I would assume that one cannot order a copy of an article or
chapter through ILL, and then use that copy to be put on ereserves, even if
they paid copyright fees to post it. Maybe I have it wrong but....
I would love to hear how other libraries interpret this...
If anyone would mind forwarding this to the person who does handle
ereserves, that would be wonderful.
Thanks,
Joyce
